civet coffee or kopi luwak is coffee that includes digested coffee cherries, eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet yes, you heard it right !! Kopi luwak is one of the most expensive coffee in the world with retail price us$700 per kilogram.

The main question arises that why is it so expensive? these beans have such high prices because the traditional ways of producing this coffee contain so much procedure.

firstly they collect the civet’s droppings, they wash the beans and dry them in sun, after drying they wash for the second time to remove all the outer shells of the beans. finally, before the shipping, they roast the beans at 220-degree celsius to make sure that no bacteria can survive in the coffee beans.
